Intelli IM Basic User Guide for Google Talk and Google Talk Business
Intelli IM Application
Intelli IM is an application/cloud service collectively called Intelli IM for iPad and iPhone to increase the collaboration and communication among Google Talk Users for personal as well as Google Talk Business use. Intelli IM allows the Google Talk users to have their messaging in their pocket and allows the users to be in total control of their communication. Intelli IM allows the users to interface with Google Talk servers via our cloud solution using XMPP protocol.
Intelli IM is a very powerful application with state of the art unique features. The following is a list of some of the unique features of Intelli IM application:
Intelli IM User Interface (UI)
Intelli IM has a very easy UI to navigate the application. UI is divided into many parts:
- Tabs
- Sub-Tabs
Tabs and Sub-tabs
The tabs at the bottom are the main tabs of the application. The tabs at the top are the sub-tabs of the application within a tab. Within a certain tab, the sub-tabs provide more functionality.
There are four main tabs of the application:
- Contacts
- Messages
- My Status
- Settings
Contacts Tab:
The contacts tab provides a view of all the contacts on your contact list. The contacts view is divided into two parts:
- Online
- Offline
The "Online" view presents all the contacts which are online and have a status attached to them. The status includes status icon, availability, note, time zone, time since last status change and picture of the status if available. A star status icon implies that contact is part of the favorite list.
By tapping on the contact, you can see more details about the contact. You can start messaging with the contact, add the contact in favorites and also delete the contact from the contact list.
If someone sent you an invite to chat or add to their contact list, the invite will also show up in the contact list. Also, if you sent an invite to someone, then your contact will appear in offline with the message that "Invite has been sent."
There are three sub-tabs under Contacts tabs and one action button to perform certain actions.

Also, there are certain Actions which apply to Contacts tab. Select the top right icon in the contacts tab. You have the choice to perform following actions:
Messages Tab
The messages tab allows the user to see the conversations and allows the user to continue with the conversations. During the conversations, the users can also send their location, use emoticons, take a photo to send or select the photo from the library, show more information about the contact, perform a group chat, increase/decrease the font size and send the conversation by email. The picture of your contact is visible at the top. By tapping on the picture, you can see more information about your contacts.
There are two sub-tabs under Messages tab:
The Edit button on top left provides the option to delete the conversations.
- All : Shows users all their contacts with status.
- Groups : Shows all the groups and lists the members in each group. You can start messaging with all the group members by tapping on the group name or just tap on the member name for messaging with just one member. You can also delete the group. The Group view presents three options: All, Online and Hide All. All allows you to see the status of all the members of the group, Online shows the group members which are online and Hide All collapses the group.
- Favorites: Shows the favorite contacts. The view is divided into "Online" and "Offline". A star next to the contact shows that contact is favorite. By tapping on the contact, more detailed information about the contact is presented. Also, you can start messaging by tapping on the Send Message.
Also, there are certain Actions which apply to Contacts tab. Select the top right icon in the contacts tab. You have the choice to perform following actions:
- Search/Add/Invite Contact
- Add Group
- Edit Favorites
Messages Tab
The messages tab allows the user to see the conversations and allows the user to continue with the conversations. During the conversations, the users can also send their location, use emoticons, take a photo to send or select the photo from the library, show more information about the contact, perform a group chat, increase/decrease the font size and send the conversation by email. There are two sub-tabs under Messages tab:
- All: Shows all the conversations. The most recent conversations are shown at the top and unread conversations are shown in Red.
- Unread: Shows all the conversations which have not been read yet.
The Edit button on top left provides the option to delete the conversations.
The Compose button on top right allows user to select contacts(one or more) to start new conversation.
My Status Tab
My Status tab allows the user to see the current status. By tapping on My Status, the user can set the following settings:
- Status
- Location
- Time Zone
- Status Note ON/OFF
- Status Note
- Your own picture if available
By tapping on the Status display, you will see the details behind the status and controls to manage the status. You can perform the following actions:
- Set Status
- See and control your location and time zone
- Set a Status Note to On/Off
Settings Tab
The Settings tab allows the user to set up the account and customize the experience.
Add Account: Allows the user to set up the account by entering User/(domain\userid), Password, CWA server name(cwa.company.com), account description.
Once the account is active, user is presented with Contacts screen. User can then go to Settings Tab to set preferences. One glance presents user with the current settings. Example, Account Settings shows status of account as Active or Inactive, Calendar with Meetings shows number of calendars used, Alert sounds shows sounds currently set for Message and Meeting, etc.
- Account Settings: User can edit editable fields. Account can be deleted here.
- Alert sounds: User can set their preference for sounds played to alert for new meeting and notifications.
- Calendar with Meetings: Allows the users to select the calendar that they want to use to set their status for meetings
- Weekly Status Schedule: The users can customize their status by using weekly status schedule. Example, schedule can be set to show status as DND from 11pm to 6AM, M-F . Their status is automatically changed at scheduled set time.
- Inactivity Timeouts: User can set the preference when they want to show their status "Inactive". User selects the inactivity time after which status changes. Inactivity timer begins when the application goes in background. Similarly, user can select time to show their status "Away". If a notification is received and user doesn't open the application, status changes to "Away" after selected time
- Authorized Devices: Shows a list of devices with active OCS account using Intelli IM, so users can track. User can conveniently unauthorize devices here..
